The development of park architecture in Opatija has always been closely related to the progress of urban structure.

Opatija is a town-example of artful embedding of architecture into the landscape, paying homage to the natural heritage and usage of ambiance resources.
Therefore, already in the 1st half of the 20th century, it was described as “park city” and as such was also recognized outside the state borders.
